Andrew Baird Matthews founded his Legal Firm in 1871 in Newton Stewart. This Firm carried on through the years with subsequent generations of the family becoming involved in the business together with other Partners and Solicitors.
As the Firm evolved, offices in Dumfries and Stranraer have opened, spreading the Firm over the entire length of the Region allowing for the provision of a personal service to clients no matter where they live in Dumfries & Galloway.
On 1st June 2015 the Firm converted to a Limited Company, Matthews Legal Limited registered in Scotland No SC497784 with its registered office at Bank of Scotland Buildings, Albert Street, Newton Stewart DG8 6EG.
The company trades under the name A B & A Matthews, and the origins of the legal business can still be traced back to 1871
